Understanding the vCard Format
The vCard format has been the standard for electronic contact exchange since the mid-1990s. Now at version 4.0 (RFC 6350), it supports a wide range of contact fields including name, organization, title, phone numbers, email addresses, physical addresses, URLs, photos, and even social media handles.
In the context of email signatures, vCards are commonly attached as .vcf files or linked for download. When a recipient clicks to download a vCard, their device prompts them to add the contact to their address book. This makes it easy for recipients to save your information accurately without manual entry.
